Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi - meetings with officials from the European Parliament and NATO Headquarters

CHISINAU, March 21, 2023 — The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, participated in the period 20-21 March this year, in the first edition of the Security and Defense Partnership Forum “Schuman Forum”, which took place in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium.

The event, organized for the first time by the European Union, brought together ministers and other high-level officials from 27 EU member countries and EU partners from 50 countries from different regions in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South America and Asia.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Anatolie Nosatîi met with the High Representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policies, Josep Borrell, with whom he discussed assistance within the European Peace Facility (EPF), with an emphasis on projects aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the National Army for crisis management and participation in international peacekeeping missions.

At the same time, the officials exchanged views on the regional security situation and the support given to our country in countering hybrid threats.

Also in the context of the participation in the Schuman Forum, the Minister Nosatîi met on Monday, March 20, with the Minister of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius, and the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Spain, Margarita Robles.

The main topics in the dialogue concerned the bilateral collaboration in the military segment and the assistance given in order to achieve the objective of transforming the National Army in accordance with Western standards.

In Brussels, Anatolie Nosatîi also had meetings with the Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO for political affairs and security policy, Javier Colomina and the Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO, Burcu San.

The officials spoke about the increased assistance package from the North Atlantic Alliance approved this February, which provides for increased cooperation to strengthen the resilience of national institutions to new challenges and combat hybrid threats, including promoting strategic communication and public diplomacy to combat disinformation.
